This article explains how personalisation works in Magnity when you use personas. It is based on the steps shown in the introduction video and focuses on three main topics:

By the end, you should understand not only how to generate persona-specific emails, but also what the AI is actually doing and how you can control it.
1. Creating your base email
Before you can personalise anything, you need a complete base email. This email serves as the foundation for all persona variants.
In the Magnity interface, you start by dragging an email into your flow and building the content you need. The AI writes the content according to your predefined rules. These rules define how to write and what quality standards the content must meet. They may include tone of voice, compliance requirements, structure, and other brand-related instructions.
If you are not yet familiar with rules and prompts in Magnity, it is helpful to review the separate material on that topic first. Once your base email is in place and aligned with your rules, you are ready to move into personalisation with personas.
2. Using personas to generate tailored variants
Selecting and understanding personas
The second step is to create persona-specific versions of that base email.
To do this, you click the plus sign in the persona area of the interface. A list of available personas becomes visible. In a production account, this list may be extensive. In the demo shown in the video, there are only a few example personas, such as a marketing specialist or a CCO.
You can select a persona and view its details. Each persona has:
- A description of who they are
- A set of persona parameters grouped into categories, for example:
- Goals and needs
- Challenges or pain points
- Value propositions
- Compliance rules or constraints
Your organisation can define and maintain as many parameters and categories as needed. At the moment, adding or changing personas is handled by your local or global administrator in dialogue with Magnity. It is a straightforward configuration task, not a large project.
Creating persona-specific email variants
To generate variants, you simply click the personas you want to use so that they are selected. Then you click submit. Within a few seconds, Magnity creates separate email versions for each selected persona. At the top of the interface, you can click each persona image to switch between their specific email variant. Every variant is based on the same core message, but adapted to that persona’s profile and needs.
3. Understanding and refining persona parameters through conversation
Inspecting how the AI has personalised your email
The third key aspect of personalisation in Magnity is transparency and control. You are not limited to accepting whatever the AI generates. You can inspect what it has done and refine it using a meta conversation.
When you open the chat panel while viewing a persona specific email, you are not only chatting with the email content and its history, or the website source and the general rules. You are also chatting with the persona itself, including all its parameters.
This allows you to ask the AI to explain its choices. The easiest way is to use quick prompts. For example, you can use the predefined prompt that asks it to explain what it has done to personalise the content. The AI then returns a detailed explanation, including:
- Which persona goals and needs it focused on, for example streamlining marketing processes for a marketing specialist
- Where in the email those aspects appear
- How the wording was adapted
- Why those specific choices were made based on the persona parameters
Fine-tuning focus with specific persona parameters
You can go further and request a list of all persona parameters currently used for that persona. The AI will list them, often with numbering, such as 1 to 9, matching what you saw in the persona details.
From there, you can direct the personalisation more precisely. For instance, you can say that you want the email to be rewritten focusing only on parameters 7, 8 and 9. The AI then rewrites the email variant, shifting its emphasis to those selected parameters. This can be repeated as many times as needed, effectively creating an ongoing meta conversation about how to personalise.
Putting persona-based personalisation into practice
This combination of persona configuration, automatic variant generation and transparent explanation helps you address specific roles, needs, goals, fears and worries in a structured way. It supports you in creating more relevant communication for each audience segment, while still keeping full control over the logic behind the personalisation.
