KB Article: How the content agent works

Using the content agent

This article explains how to work with the content agent in Magnity. Use it when you want to explore existing content, design engagement flows, create FAQs and translate assets, before turning them into emails, landing pages and social posts.

1. Overview of the content agent layout

The content agent uses the same basic layout as other Magnity builders, with three main areas:

  • Left side: Content library and filters
  • Centre: Open canvas where you assemble and review content
  • Right side: Chat, where you ask questions and give instructions to the AI

At the top you access the usual navigation and menu options to move between different parts of the platform. Unlike the email or landing page builders, the content agent does not use templates. The focus is on exploring and structuring content, not on layout.

2. Accessing the content agent

You can open the content agent in two ways:

  • From the burger menu, select the content agent
  • From the top navigation, choose the content agent option on the right side

When it opens, you see your content library on the left, an empty canvas in the middle and the chat panel on the right.

3. Left panel: content library and filters

The left panel shows all the content that is available to the content agent. This includes the same tiles you use in other builders, such as:

  • Web pages
  • Case pages
  • Videos
  • Documents

You can have thousands of tiles available here.

To focus on specific content, use filters. For example, you can:

  • Filter by decision journey phase, such as Interest or Desire
  • Select a group of pages, such as virtual case pages
  • Clear or close filters to return to the full view

Once you have filtered the list, you can select one or more items and drag them into either the canvas or the chat, depending on what you want to do next.

4. Centre canvas: building plans and outputs

The canvas in the centre is where you assemble and review larger pieces of work. Typical uses include:

  • Engagement flow plans
  • FAQs
  • Translations and language variants
  • Other ad hoc content constructions based on your existing sources

When you add content or AI outputs to the canvas, you can:

  • Zoom in and out to get a better overview
  • Scroll through long flows with multiple phases, emails and assets
  • Save the result as a plan or custom tile
  • Export the content as a PDF for review

The canvas does not constrain you to a fixed format. You decide how to structure and use the content that is created.

5. Right panel: chat and quick prompts

The right-side chat is always open in the content agent. It is your main way of working with the AI on top of your content.

You can:

  • Type your own instructions, such as “Make a summary”, “Evaluate which sources have highest reuse value”, or “Build an FAQ from these pages”.
  • Use predefined quick prompts, such as “Design an engagement flow”. These prompts insert a longer, pre-written instruction into the chat, specifying details like audience, phases, objectives, emails per phase and mapping of supporting articles.

The AI uses both your instructions and the sources you provide to produce structured outputs that you can then add to the canvas.

6. Working with multiple sources in the chat

The content agent chat can work with many sources at once. To do this:

  • Drag items from the left panel directly into the chat (not the canvas)
  • See the list of attached sources appear in the chat panel

Sources can include:

  • Video guides
  • Web pages about your products or solutions
  • Other content tiles that you select

Once the sources are attached, you can ask the AI to, for example:

  • Generate an FAQ from all attached videos and pages
  • Highlight specific questions based on one page
  • Reiterate or refine information from selected sources

This allows you to move from raw content to structured, reusable material without manual copying and pasting.

7. Designing engagement flows

One of the key use cases for the content agent is designing structured engagement flows based on your existing content.

To design a flow:

  • Use filters in the left panel to select relevant pages, for example from the Interest and Desire phases of your decision journey
  • Drag these pages into the canvas so they are available as context
  • Use a quick prompt like “Design an engagement flow” in the chat

The predefined prompt typically instructs the AI to:

  • Define an overall audience, current state and target state
  • Create three to seven phases beyond onboarding
  • Describe motivation, purpose and objective for each phase
  • Suggest two to four emails per phase
  • Map one to four supporting articles from your sources into each email, including titles and URLs
  • Specify cadence, exit criteria and suggested metrics where relevant

When the flow is generated, you can add it to the canvas, zoom in and review the full structure as a written plan.

8. Saving, sharing and reusing plans

Once you are satisfied with a plan in the canvas, such as an engagement flow, you have several options to keep it and reuse it.

Saving and exporting

  • Save the canvas content with a clear name, for example “Engagement flow plan – existing customers”
  • Export the canvas as a PDF if you want to share it with colleagues for feedback

Creating a custom tile

  • Use the “create custom tile” functionality to turn the current canvas content into a reusable tile
  • Give the tile a name, such as “Engagement flow – existing customers”
  • Optionally select rules if you want to use it as a content-generating tile later
  • Choose an image from available sources to represent the tile
  • Add tags, for example “action” or “flow”, to make it easier to find

After saving, the new tile appears in your library. You can then drag this tile into other builders, such as the email builder, and use it as a contextual source in the chat when creating campaign assets.

9. Translating content into multiple languages

The content agent also supports ad hoc translation of content that may not originally exist as a Magnity email or page.

To translate:

  • Drag a web page or other text-based tile into the canvas
  • Use the translation function to select the languages you need

The system will translate the canvas content into the selected languages, similar to how translation works in the email or landing page builders. You can then:

  • Switch between language versions in the canvas (for example English, German, Spanish, Korean, Danish, Dutch)
  • Export all language versions together as a single PDF to share with teams or agencies

This is useful when you receive content in one language and need consistent versions for multiple markets.

10. Example workflow with the content agent

A typical workflow in the content agent could look like this:

  • Filter the content library to select pages from specific journey phases, such as Interest and Desire
  • Drag 15–20 relevant pages into the canvas
  • Use a quick prompt in the chat to generate a detailed engagement flow with phases, emails and mapped articles
  • Review the flow in the canvas, adjusting phases or details by chatting with the AI if needed
  • Save the plan and export it as a PDF for stakeholder feedback
  • Create a custom tile from the final flow
  • Open the email builder, drag the engagement flow tile into the chat, and use it as context to build actual emails

By using the content agent in this way, you can move from scattered web pages, videos and documents to structured, reusable plans that guide your campaign execution.
